Apartments in the Maremuritz Yachthafen Resort, Waren an der Muritz

The apartments are functional and nice, and the outdoor pool has a wonderful view, but our stay was really unpleasant. After six hours of cycling, we badly needed the deep-soaking bathtub we had booked. We didn’t get one. When I asked, reception said our apartment had no bathtub, which we could see for ourselves. Even after I showed the booking, she kept insisting the Aurora category didn’t include one. The apartment was also hot and stuffy. We knew there was no air conditioning and were fine with that since we like sleeping with a window open, but there were no mosquito nets on any of the windows, so we couldn’t open them and didn’t sleep properly. When we asked, reception confirmed there were no nets in our apartment and said we should have requested an apartment with them beforehand. Where was that stated? Being right by the lake, we expected mosquitoes, but didn’t expect to have to specify that we wanted to sleep. For the price, this was very disappointing. The receptionist repeating what we had just told her made it even more frustrating.

Breakfast was great, and the place itself really deserves five stars. The dinner buffet is another story: for 40 EUR per person, it was terrible, with just a few sausages and no salad bar at all. The restaurant lets the resort down.

The rooms and pool were clean, and the staff were polite during our short break. What bothered me were the extra charges: 25 euros for a dog and 10 for parking. I’ve never thought it’s fair to spring fees like these without making them clear beforehand. Parking charges seem unnecessary at a place of this quality, and the dog fee is steep too, since I usually see it around 12-15 euros.

The location is superb, and the apartments are new and well built, from standard holiday flats to loft-style designer spaces. Prices aren’t cheap, and the cleaning fee is especially hard to justify for a short getaway since it doesn’t adjust to how long you stay. I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant for food or drinks. Better to cook for yourself or try one of the nearby places.
