Hotel Zur Sonne

The bathroom was very clean and perfectly adequate, and the hotel itself was clean too. The room had plenty of floor space, a fridge, and even a stove, but I missed having a little cooking area with dishes, a pan, and a cooktop for making meals. I didn’t experience any service, so I can’t rate that. The location at a street intersection bothered me a bit, though the soundproof windows helped a lot. It’s also handy for the train station.

We were the only guests when we stayed, probably because of the time of year, but breakfast was still really tasty. It’s a small, cozy hotel with spacious rooms and bathrooms. The old town and harbor are an easy, pleasant 10-minute walk away. We’d recommend it and will definitely stay again.

The spacious comfort room and the adequate, good breakfast were about the only bright spots for us. We stayed two nights, visiting friends at a nearby campsite, and the hotel’s one location advantage is being close to town. Our room faced the street, and at night it was only bearable with the windows shut or earplugs in. The sheets had a rubberized layer underneath, like in a hospital or care home, which felt unpleasant. Worse were the urine-colored underside of the toilet seat and dark marks at the bottom of the shower doors. We reported them at reception, but the reply was even more shocking: they said they couldn’t be too hard on the outside cleaning firms or nobody would come to clean. We won’t book here again.

The breakfast buffet was delicious, and we liked the spot on the main road, a little away from the center. You can still walk into town in around 10-15 minutes, depending on your pace. The room and bathroom were both large, and it was a lovely place to stay.
