Schlosshotel Weilburg

The town is stunning, and the rooms themselves were nice, but the hotel felt outdated. During a heat wave the AC was broken, and staff wouldn’t move us to another room. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, though it wasn’t replenished often, and the pool area has seen better days.

The service was among the worst I’ve experienced. Waiters missed asking half the table, so people had to track them down for drinks. The whole group in the full "Rittersaal" went about 20 minutes without service, and we ended up checking other tables for leftover water. It seemed as if staff either weren’t capable or didn’t care about selling anything. They could have simply left 10 bottles on the buffet tables. The rooms were okay, but there were cobwebs both in the room and in the main entrance hall. Room quality also varied quite a bit between older and modernized ones, for example, some had AC and others didn’t.

My room had no air-conditioning, so I can imagine it getting quite hot in summer. The furniture and bathroom were a bit dated, but the room was still clean and cosy. The location was very nice, service was good, and breakfast was served buffet-style. WiFi coverage was good too.

The location was absolutely beautiful, and parking on the premises was easy. I stayed four nights, and the place was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good, had a nice selection, and started at 7am. I didn’t try the free pool, sauna, or fitness offerings. The Economy Rooms still look like they haven’t been renovated since the building burned down and was rebuilt in the 70s, as a local told me. The green carpet, brown furniture, and brown bathroom tiles make that clear, though everything was clean and maintained. The bed was quite short for me at 185 cm, with my feet hanging over the edge. There was also a strange light arrangement about 30cm above the head of the bed, and I bumped my head on it at least five times. After my second night, around 6.30pm, I asked reception for thinner blankets and was told they’d be brought to my room. By 10 pm they still hadn’t arrived, so I went back down. The receptionist apologized, said she’d forgotten, and went to get them. She came back with two rather uncomfortable mattress covers and presented them as blankets, so that didn’t go great.
