It was fine.

The room works well for four, with one double bed and a bunk bed. The pillows and blankets smelled, though, and I wasn’t sure they’d really been washed. The towels looked old. It did cost less than other apartments in the area.

The setting is very peaceful, with birds in the morning and a lovely sunset from the terrace in the evening. Fewo Weisweil is out in the German countryside but only about a 10-minute drive from Europa Park, a handy spot for couples or families who want to relax after a day at the attractions. There’s free parking right in front, and places like the Black Forest and the banks of the Rhine are easy to reach too. The apartment was spacious, tastefully furnished and very well kept, with bright rooms, comfortable beds and a fully equipped kitchen. Everything was spotless. The owners gave us a warm welcome, were kind and helpful with advice about the area, and gave us plenty of privacy during our stay. They clearly care about their guests’ comfort. It’s a comfortable, quiet place in a good location, and we’d definitely come back.

The price for what you get is good. There are large rooms, a huge and beautiful shower, and big TVs in every room. Still, it felt a bit like a youth hostel, with bad mattresses, sparse furnishings and dust under the bed. I’d just stayed somewhere super cozy in Holland, so maybe I was spoiled by that.
