Apartments am Hofgarten

The balcony was a lovely place to sit, with a view of Langenfeld’s natural surroundings, and the Schlenker family were especially welcoming. They even brought us a cold beer. The neighbors were friendly and didn’t disturb our gathering. Inside, the apartment was modern and tastefully furnished, with a relaxed open-plan living area and comfortable seating. We hosted a light party, and the acoustics worked well. The kitchen had what we needed to prepare snacks and drinks. It was a great spot for a small get-together, and I’d recommend it for future celebrations.

We left early. The bathroom flooded every time we showered, and with no cleaning supplies, there was no way to tidy it up. The shower head barely worked, more like a water outlet. Apartment No. 4 had damaged furniture and accessories. The carpet was stained, and someone had covered the living room carpet with another stained rug. There was no dishwasher, and we couldn’t find any dishcloths or tea towels. A mop would have helped too. The setting itself was quiet, on the edge of town, and a good base for the scenic hiking trails nearby.

We enjoyed our stay and didn’t spend much time in the apartment, so the cleanliness issues didn’t bother us too much. I got the impression the apartments are mainly rented to construction workers. The WiFi was only reasonable when you were the sole guest in the complex. Hygiene could be much better: the carpet was dirty and needed replacing, and the vacuum cleaner didn’t work and had no bag. There was moldy bread in a kitchen cupboard, and a glass in a cupboard beside the TV had a big cola stain and lipstick on it. The apartment was spacious and fully equipped, with a large bedroom and bed, plus a complete kitchen and bathroom. The key system was very easy to use.

We had a good, comfortable break here, and everything else about the apartment was perfect. We brought two dogs, and we appreciated that they were allowed to stay. We’re thinking about coming back next year. We were asked to leave the place swept clean, but the broom was practically worn out. There wasn’t a working vacuum either, despite me asking several times. The one I found in the basement barely picked up even tiny crumbs, even after I emptied and cleaned its dustbin. It’s a shame, since we wanted to leave the apartment clean.
