Haubarg Windschuur, App. 7

The place is furnished really nicely and feels almost new, with great amenities. We knew there was no Wi-Fi, and it’s been so quiet here. One update, though: total silence depends on nobody living upstairs. New tenants moved in yesterday, and their early morning footsteps make the floorboards creak a little.

That cow peeking in at breakfast was a highlight. 😂 The property is a dream, and although you sometimes hear the people in the neighboring apartment, that happens at home too. We had a wonderfully relaxing week at the end of August in apartment No. 7 at Haubarg Windschuur on the Eiderstedt peninsula, and we’ll definitely come back. It’s a great base for more than a day trip to Sankt Peter-Ording. We visited St. Peter-Ording and Böhl beach parking, the St. Peter-Ording weekly market, Tönning and the Multimar aquarium, Friedrichstadt, Westerhever twice because it’s so beautiful, the Dünentherme spa, the Eider Barrage, and Kaffe Koog. The apartments are modern, cozy, and charming. The kitchen has enough equipment, and there’s a TV and radio. Towels, dish towels, and bed linens were supplied, with plenty of garden furniture and parking too. There’s no Wi-Fi, which might be a good thing. Key pickup and return were easy. A special thanks to the lovely cleaning lady, who goes the extra mile even when some guests make her job difficult. See you soon!

We had a wonderful vacation, thank you! Everything was perfect. The broken kitchen light was fixed right away, so it really helps to report problems as they come up instead of complaining later. And if you dislike children or their noise, this probably isn’t the place for you. ;)

The idyllic setting matched the description, and that’s the reason for the two stars. Apartment 2, though, didn’t live up to the description of a lovingly restored place. A sagging mattress, broken TV sofa, and faulty lamp were the smallest issues. We’d hoped to relax after our outings, especially since the accommodation was advertised for couples, but families with lots of children shouted and made plenty of noise in the garden and house. Doors kept slamming despite the signs, laundry hours weren’t observed, and the vacuum cleaners were full of hair that we had to remove before using them. There was no staff on site, so we had to try to handle things ourselves. Our six days that were meant to be relaxing turned out to be anything but. For couples looking for a peaceful break, this was zero value for money. Stay away!
