Hotel Apfelblüte is a decent choice for the price, about five minutes by car from Stralsund town. You'll need a car to get around. The interior feels old, maybe from the 60s or 70s, but the staff were friendly and helpful even though English didn't seem to be their preferred language. The rooms are spacious with lots of storage, and the bathroom was clean and good. The mattresses really should have been replaced ages ago. The TV was almost entirely in German, with BBC Economy News the only English channel. Food at the restaurant was excellent, breakfast was okay but cold, and beer, wine, and other drinks were available at reasonable prices.

The old-fashioned place is worth a visit, especially for its well-known asparagus cook.
