Apartment Marina Wendtorf

The marina view from this apartment is lovely, and having breakfast on the balcony or watching the sunset there made it a great place to unwind. It was set up for six, though I think it suits four better. Our balcony was cleaned promptly, and small problems were fixed straight away. We had a friendly, capable DanCenter employee, but that seems to depend on who you get. This was House 18, Apartment 21, No. 28415. The apartment had a drying rack, balcony furniture, wok and burner, microwave, ceramic hob, fridge, filter coffee maker, a kitchen equipped for six, and a steam room. Equipment may differ in other units. We paid for water, electricity, and other utilities separately, so read your own meters. I’d happily holiday here again, and recommend it.

A handy free bike option is available for short rides: some bikes by the Palstek buildings have a “Just a bike” note in the basket. You can borrow one to reach the bakery or Stein pier, then return it to its spot for the next person. I spent a few days here in July 2025, staying at Haus Zugvogel (Palstek 2 B), one of the former Olympic apartment buildings where sailors prepared for the 1972 Kiel Fjord competitions. The building has 66 units, some rented as vacation flats. Mine was listed as “Fewo Seestern Marina Port of Wendtorf.” These apartments are generally around 30 square meters, with one bedroom. Ours had a small bathroom, kitchenette, washing machine, sitting area, TV, fridge, coffee maker, kitchen utensils, kettle, and more. Check with the landlord about whether to bring bed linen and towels. Palstek 2 is 12 stories high and has elevators. Each unit has a small balcony, or a terrace on the ground floor. We paid €280 for three nights, including final cleaning but no breakfast. Wi-Fi quality varies by apartment, and ours wasn’t good. Our keys were left in a box on the fence, accessed with a code. From the top viewing platform, reached by elevator and two more staircases, there’s a magnificent marina view. On a clear day you can even see the Naval Memorial in Laboe. Free parking is available in several spaces outside, though some require curbside parking. There’s a bakery and bike rental on the access road, and an Edeka supermarket about a kilometer away, around a 15-minute walk. The Baltic Sea promenade, marina, and several restaurants, including the Rönnau fishing farm and Stellen Henssler's “Ahoi” restaurant, are a few minutes away on foot. The newly opened “slow down” hotel is nearby too, and Stein pier is 1.2 kilometers away.

The view was great, and the place had a really nice feel to it. Everything was clean and there was everything we needed.

Mrs. Jacobsen welcomed us herself, handed over the key, and took a little time to check in. The apartment at Palstek 2B was spotless, lovingly furnished, and had a fantastic view. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly return.
