The accommodation was suddenly unavailable, and I got a call to say so without any explanation. This was after Booking.com had confirmed my reservation, the owner had sent detailed check-in information, and even confirmed my early check-in request in writing. I've traveled a lot, so I've dealt with plenty of bookings. They did arrange a refund for the "non-refundable rate" without me having to push for it. Still, I got no compensation or goodwill gesture, such as a digital voucher through Booking.com. The whole experience was very negative. Even one star feels too generous.

The hosts are friendly and easy to reach, and there's parking right at the house. It's a cozy little apartment just around the corner from the old town. The bathroom is nicely done, though I'd have preferred a shower door to the curtain. The kitchen might feel a bit small if you plan to cook all your meals, but we managed just fine.

The location was the one good part. What was called a holiday apartment felt like a room with a double bed, and it wasn't warm when we arrived. The beds were uncomfortable, and there was only a small sofa, about 1.20 m wide. It was listed as 50 square meters, though it seemed more like 30 to 35. I'm still wondering what four people are supposed to get when booking it and how that would work. We left a day before our booked and paid stay was over.

Everything worked well for an overnight stay, and the apartment was furnished in a practical way. I did miss having an oven to bake rolls, but otherwise it was great. We'd happily come back.
