We felt at home thanks to the kind, helpful, very professional staff. Breakfast was plentiful, with lots of variety. The room was small but clean, practical, and homey. A pleasant surprise, the hotel turned out better than we expected.

The bed was the real problem. The pillows looked plump but collapsed as soon as we lay on them, and the mattress hurt so much the first night that I thought about sleeping in my car. The second night I used the flat pillows as a makeshift mattress pad and managed a few hours' rest. I usually like a firm bed, but even the floor would have been better. I have a few thoughts about the bathroom and breakfast too, but don't want to sound overly negative. There were plenty of good things: it's a beautiful hotel in a great spot for exploring Wernigerode, and we had a gorgeous castle view from our top-floor room. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. The private parking was convenient, and the pool and sauna were incredibly relaxing. Despite the problems, we had a lovely weekend, and I'd recommend it for those positives.

The room was clean and tastefully decorated, though fairly small. But the noise made it easily the worst room I've ever stayed in. I checked in during the off-season, around 3-4 pm, and was still given a room right beside the elevator. The wall next to the bed backed onto the elevator shaft and was extremely thin, so it felt like I was sleeping inside the elevator. It made the stay very unpleasant.

The family room with a kitchenette was spacious and nice, and the rooms were very clean. It's easy to get everywhere on foot, and we could see the castle from our room. The staff were lovely and polite. Being next to a fairly busy road makes it a bit loud, but it wasn't a big deal. Highly recommend.
