Gasthof Elisabeth

We’ll have to come back next year since there’s still so much we haven’t seen. It’s easy to get to Sonthofen and Oberstdorf, and there are great places to start fantastic hikes. The guesthouse is lovely, the service excellent, and the food was outstanding, hard to beat. Five stars plus a big extra one from us. Thanks for everything, see you next year! 🙂😄😅

The food was very good, prices were fair, and service was consistently friendly and helpful, even with unusual requests. Everything was clean, and the value for money is good. We stayed at the Gasthof Elisabeth between Christmas and New Year's, and I’d stay again, though the small rooms could use some renovation, especially for families. The owner could also pay more attention to the outdoor area: the ashtrays and trash cans need tending, as the one outside wasn’t emptied once in five days. That leaves a poor impression over time.

For the price, I expected more comfort in the room and better food. The meals were just basic, decent fare. We stayed for 12 days, and while it wasn’t exactly bad, the place felt average and too expensive for what you get. I wouldn’t return.

The highlight was the staff: every employee was consistently cheerful and eager to help with any request, big or small. The rooms were tidy and clean, and the meadows behind the inn would have been a lovely place to relax if the pandemic had allowed it. Despite the pandemic, they carefully arranged fresh, tasty breakfasts and excellent multi-course dinners. For such a small inn, the standard is remarkably high, from professional booking management to thoughtful emails confirming the booking and payment. We had a wonderful holiday, thank you!
