The room itself had old furniture, cheap, misshapen pillows, a broken shower, and curtains too thin to block the streetlights or early morning sun. After driving for 18 hours, my husband and I booked in Blankenfeld at 10 pm. We saw the bar by the entrance and asked the receptionist for somewhere quiet. He said that was no problem, then handed us a key to a room right above the bar. We were too exhausted to ask to move or find another hotel, so we waited for the bar to close. Conversations turned into singing, and it didn’t stop until after 2 am. The worst experience ever. To be fair, the hotel took the two breakfasts, 8.50 euros each, off the bill. Still, it wasn’t worth the price at all.

This is my favourite hotel and restaurant in Wetzlar. The owners and staff are super friendly. I loved the Feldsalat with ham last night, and the special Bosnian Schnitzel and risotto with Gambas are worth trying. For a change, the Jägerschnitzel is good too. And the Croatian red, Plavacz... or something like that.

We picked cherries from the fruit trees around the lot, which hotel guests can help themselves to. They were incredibly sweet. It’s a cozy, lovely little hotel tucked away in Wetzlar, out of the way.
