For a quieter stay than somewhere like Ahrenshoop, Wieck on the Darß peninsula is a good choice. It sits by the Bodden lagoon and next to the beautiful Darß Forest. From the village you can cycle through the forest to the West Beach, about 7 kilometers away. The ride is pleasant even in summer because it stays cool under the trees, and the paths work well with bike trailers, including ones for children. Prerow is also easy to reach by bike. There are several restaurants and cafés in Wieck, while shopping is available in neighboring Born.

We always love coming back to Wieck. It’s peaceful and full of pretty houses and carefully tended gardens, and the village has kept its original charm. Be sure to stop at the harbor for the view over the Bodden lagoon.

There’s a lovely route through the woods to the West Beach, which makes this a good base for day trips. We’ve been returning to this quiet, unspoiled little village for years. It never feels as crowded as Prerow or Zingst.
