The rooms felt cozy, and the view was amazing. Service was spot on, and the restaurant served delicious food too. I'd recommend it to anyone. 5*

We had a lovely view from our clean, nicely sized room, and breakfast was good. There’s also a pleasant restaurant with a terrace. Set on a hill above the small town of Wiesensteig, it’s handily close to the Autobahn, making it an excellent place to stop overnight.

All 20 of us left happy after a wonderful dinner. The food was delicious, the rooms were clean and lovely, and the location was very nice. Service was friendly and great too. Thank you!

This place feels a world away, even though it's only five minutes from the motorway. The little town is beautiful, with lots of ancient buildings. I liked the huntsman lodge decor and all the stuffed animals, though it won't suit everyone. The restaurant was cosy, with a small but delicious menu that included Argentinian steak and venison. Staff spoke little English, but enough for us to get by. Our room was well appointed, the bathroom was excellent, and the beds were really comfortable. A little gem, and our preferred stop for the journey from now on.

The village view is gorgeous, and the room we ended up with was comfortable, with a balcony overlooking Wiesensteig, a complimentary bottle of mineral water, and great beds. The curtains were a little small for the windows, but that wasn't a major issue. Breakfast was great, the woman serving it was kind and friendly, and checkout went properly. The evening, though, felt pretty unwelcoming. We arrived to find the door jammed. Apparently it just needed a hard push, but we were trying to open it without forcing it, so we rang the bell. Someone shouted at us in German from somewhere, and after a while the receptionist came and told us to push harder. We were sorry we hadn't done that at first. Our reservation hadn't come through properly, which annoyed the receptionist. We were given a bigger room for the price of the one we'd reserved, which was a plus, though we had to pay in advance. That made sense later. We were hungry after checking in and wanted a drink, but there was no bar or restaurant. The website said this was just on Monday, though the sign on the door also said no food on Tuesdays. We'd booked because the hotel was listed as having a bar and restaurant, so we expected to arrive, have a drink and something to eat, then get some sleep before continuing our trip. That didn't happen. We checked Googlemaps: of four restaurants in town, one didn't exist, one was closed Mondays, and we skipped a third because of its bad reviews. That left Hotel-Gasthof am Selteltor. Its restaurant was open and absolutely great, with good food, nice beers, and a warm welcome. The host said her kitchen was understaffed because she hadn't expected so many tables that night, with Albhotel sending all its guests there. When we got back around 21:00ish, the receptionist had left for the day and nobody else was around. Music was playing from a local radiostation in the hallway. It sounded like a TV somewhere, and felt like leaving music on for a dog at home so it won't bark at outside noises. From 21:00 to 6:00 there was no staff present. The place is beautiful, but between the reception we got and the closed restaurant, we didn't feel welcome in the evening.
