Strandhotels Seestern & Hotel Delphin

The fish shaped bread made the sandwiches a fun change, and the food was delicious. We ate outdoors on the Südstrand promenade with drinks. Service was very fast, though our food arrived before the drinks, which was a little unusual. Prices felt a bit high, but the location makes them easier to accept.

The staff were friendly, which is why I’m giving two stars, but lunch was a real letdown. The potatoes were cold, the fish barely warm, and the salad wilted. The Herbst butter was hard, though it would presumably have melted if the fish had been served hot. For a cold meal like that, the price was far too high.

It was so quiet and calming during my visit, with nothing but birds and water for company. The rooms, as far as I know, all have sea views and little balconies. You won't see either sunrise or sunset, but the setting is still lovely. There's a marine museum within walking distance too. Summer might be busier on the beach, though.

This is about the attached bistro 'Schlemmerinsel'. I tried their supposed fish and chips twice, and both times the fish was still frozen. The staff didn't apologize. I would have had to wait again, so I chose not to. I wondered why they couldn't just fit me in. The woman at the register reluctantly refunded my money. I can't recommend the place.
