The location is excellent, a little secluded but only a 5-minute drive from the city center. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and having a reserved breakfast table by the window with a fantastic view was a lovely touch. Breakfast itself was adequate. Our room had a minor issue at check-in, but these things happen. We didn't use the spa, so I can't comment on it. The hotel is lovely, but the rooms are quite dated and clearly need renovation. They were clean, though there was visible old water damage, and the windows and balcony door let cold air in.

There's a small ski slope a few minutes' walk from the hotel, great for beginners, with ski rentals and a ski school. Usseln is about a 20-minute walk away, and in summer there are lovely hikes nearby. For families, the hotel is especially convenient: play areas indoors and out, including one right outside the dining room, let you enjoy a quiet morning coffee while the kids play. Staff are incredibly friendly with little ones. We book half-board as usual, and they cater to children at mealtimes too. The food is absolutely spotless! Some areas could do with updating, but that didn't bother us much. The rooms are clean, which is what matters most.

We've been here five times and every holiday has been fantastic. The owners can provide gluten-free products for people with celiac disease if you ask. The pool and sauna are great, and we'd especially recommend them for families with children. Breakfast is always plentiful. Looking forward to coming back soon.

The surrounding area is beautiful, with great hikes, and Willingen is easy to reach. But we didn't feel comfortable in the hotel, so we won't return. It's very dated, and the pool needs renovation. We didn't try the basement playroom because it seemed creepy and uninviting. At reception, I found the staff member unfriendly and reserved, though the owner was much nicer. Dinner wasn't to our taste, and the children's menu felt unimaginative and repetitive. Breakfast was okay, but nothing special.
