The rooms were carpeted and looked clean, with a TV, cupboard, and towels. The chairs were old-looking but clean too. There’s free parking outside and across the road. Breakfast was standard, served in a spacious dining area. The hotel feels a bit dull and very dated, from the room decor to the green-painted bathrooms. The bath drained slowly, so water quickly pooled around your feet, and the water came out very hot, so you have to be careful. The carpeted balcony was damp from the moisture. For families, the rooms are fairly large and have extra beds. There’s also a small pool and sauna. The pool water was quite hot when we arrived, hotter than I’d expect for a children’s pool.

We stayed for my birthday, and the owners had thoughtfully put flowers on our breakfast table and served us a complimentary glass of German champagne. Those small gestures meant a lot, and we’ll definitely return. The staff also went out of their way to help when the oven in our room’s kitchen didn’t work properly, cooking our oven dishes in their own oven. The kitchen can be booked for an extra €10 per day. Our comfort room had outdated decor, but the good size, the view, and the very comfortable beds more than made up for it. It’s a nice family-run hotel in Usseln, about four kilometers from Willingen. Breakfast is included, and there’s apparently sometimes a buffet dinner, though not during our visit. Usseln is small but has several restaurants within walking distance.

The people here are so nice and helpful, and the area is beautiful. Our room was very good, especially the superb beds, and breakfast was excellent. A really good hotel, well worth staying at.

It’s clear they keep working on improvements, and the relaxed owners make the stay pleasant. The room was large, with furnishings that were perfectly adequate. The sauna and pool weren’t new, but I found them perfectly sufficient. I do feel sad that hotel chains in Willingen are putting family-run hotels in the surrounding area at risk.
