The breakfast was great, and having the little tea kitchen was a real blessing. The mattresses were comfortable even for people with back problems, and the place was clean and well cared for. We came over New Year’s for the second time and felt welcome again. The owners are warm and clearly want their guests to feel at ease. Our two dogs were welcomed so kindly, and with fireworks and bangers not allowed, all of us could properly enjoy the holiday. Thanks to the Heuser family, we’ve already booked our next stay.

The breakfast room felt cold and not very welcoming. There wasn’t much choice, the rolls weren’t good, and one kind of bread was so hard it was almost impossible to cut. It was even harder the next day. There was a toaster but no toast, and the eggs were counted. The fruit plate had an apple, a banana, and a little sliced fruit. Our room, on the first floor, was spacious and had a large terrace or balcony, though it wasn’t especially inviting. We were there with our dog, in one of the usual dog rooms. The shared kitchen had plenty of equipment, but the sink, coffee machine, and other appliances could have been better maintained. It’s a dated, rather ordinary hotel that’s only partly renovated. Overall, very basic.

The owners were really lovely, and the hotel is tucked away in the forest, nice and secluded. Check-in and everything else was incredibly easy. I’d happily stay again.

The owners, a mother and daughter, were kind and helpful, and we had a great time. We stayed for a week, walking the trails and visiting villages nearby. Willingen is known as a party village on weekends, though it was very quiet during the week. Our attic apartment had a large living room, plus a games room inside and a garden with chairs and a ping-pong table. There was foosball too. The kitchen is shared and has a microwave, tea and coffee making facilities, and large fridges where you can pay for drinks. Since there’s no restaurant, we heated up microwave meals a few times. Part of the ceiling in the top-floor apartment slopes low, so watch your head. Dogs are welcome everywhere, and the hotel sits at the end of a forest road, with the woods right there. We’ll definitely return. (May 2025)
