It smells really strange, and the place is much too expensive. The ski center is far away too.

The Winterberg salt cave is right there, and parking is next to the house. There's also a bus stop just a short walk away. Rooms are spotless and have everything needed, with prices that work for either a quick trip or a longer stay. Booking was easy. I'd recommend it if you want a relaxed, fuss-free holiday.

Worth considering for a short visit. Some reviews make it sound worse than it is, and the owner was friendly. I didn't see him again on departure day, though. Read the booking details carefully to avoid a letdown. A few coat hooks or a small wardrobe for clothes would also be useful.

Elkeringhausen is beautiful and close to Winterberg, and we really enjoyed the Sauerland ❤️. The double room was simple and dated, with a few small flaws if you looked closely, but it was clean when we arrived. There were no cupboards or coat racks. Breakfast tasted great, though it was a bit expensive. Bring your own cutlery and plates. For shops and restaurants you need to go to Winterberg, though we prefer Willingen despite it being a little farther away. We brought our own bed linen, as otherwise it costs €20 per person, which we already knew.
