The main drawback for me was public transport, since buses only come every one or two hours, though you can call a taxi. The price is good and includes both breakfast and dinner, and I’d recommend it. The bedroom was nice, the food excellent, and the owner was very friendly and always willing to help. The rest of the staff were great too. They gave me a bus ticket for the whole weekend, a place to store my ski, and a bottle of water in the room. The service felt very personal, and there’s a nice sauna as well.

We had a lovely walking holiday here. The hotel, staff, and food were all fine, with no complaints at all. I’d definitely stay again.

Pets are welcome, which is nice. I’ve eaten at the Landgastof restaurant several times and have been extremely satisfied every time. The dishes are delicious, portions are generous, and the ingredients are locally sourced. The menu often even names the nearby farm the meat comes from, and you can taste the quality in the distinctive, familiar flavors that don’t feel industrial. The owners are incredibly kind. The building is beautiful and easy to reach, even when it’s snowy, and the interior is carefully designed with a warm atmosphere. Five stars from me, though it deserves six!

We spent two wonderful days here, with excellent service from the owners, and will definitely return. There’s a large sauna with a lovely relaxation room. In the evenings we had a superb five-course meal on the first night, even though it was their day off, then a four-course dinner with a choice of dishes the next evening. Both meals were delicious and plentiful. The breakfast buffet had a wide selection, and we could take food with us for the day. The owner even filled our thermos with hot tea. We chose the country inn for its location near the Girkhausen cross-country skiing center and the Neuastenberg and Winterberg downhill ski resorts. Booking online and arriving on their day off was easy: I got a quick WhatsApp with instructions for the key box, where we found the keys and more information. We could also get an espresso from the coffee machine.
