The homemade salami at breakfast was delicious, with apple, pepper and, sorry, I’ve forgotten the other ingredients. My room was clean and comfortable, and very quiet at the back of Hotel Biesenbach, which was founded in 1862. Mr. Ferdinand and his team do all they can to make a stay pleasant. It’s a great base for relaxing and exploring the Bergisches Land, including in the “Indian Summer.” A pool would have earned it four stars from me. I’d happily come back and highly recommend it. Thank you, Mr. Ferdinand!

The rooms and facilities feel quite dated, though the rooms themselves are clean and spacious. The beds are small, with soft mattresses.

The room was spacious and the bed comfortable, so the basics were fine. But the internet is heavily restricted or blocked: VPNs, remote work and many online games aren’t usable. There’s no GSM signal either, so a phone hotspot won’t help. If you need to work, check email or get online, this hotel unfortunately isn’t suitable.

It’s a nice spot for hiking and an affordable room, though it was a bit out of the way for our birthday party. I booked online, and only later found out breakfast wasn’t included; it was another eight euros per person. Also, don’t call a taxi, it’ll be expensive. See the other review.

The hotel’s in a quiet location, with free Wi-Fi and a TV. The rooms are furnished in a rustic style, and have their own shower and toilet. Sadly, the restaurant has closed.
