Das Kittchen

A few things in my room didn’t work quite right: the bathroom light was out, and casting to the TV was buggy. I’d booked a single loft but got a larger bedroom instead, which I was happy with. The room itself was clean, bright and fresh. The top bunk was a dubious climb, so I’d only suggest it for children. For a solo traveller or a couple, this place works well, though it may not suit a family staying longer. I’d happily return to Wismar for a few days and stay here again. It’s a lovely, simple hotel with a very good price and a fantastic central spot, within easy walking distance of the harbor and the rest of town. The rooms are minimally furnished but have what you need for a comfortable night or two, and everything felt new. The beds are on the firm side. Having the toilet and shower in the same space may be a plus or a minus. I was travelling alone, so it wasn’t an issue, and communal showers are available if it is for you. The entry system was a little confusing and could be challenging if you’re not tech savvy, but it worked fine. Check in at 3 is a good idea since staff are there to answer questions. The staff were friendly, and the price was very good.

Breakfast was stellar, and the place made for a great family stay for all seven of us. My only suggestions are to add shelves and bath mats in the shower, since there was water on the hallway floor.

The staff at the desk were very helpful, and they apologised after explaining that most hotels in lubeck have no air-conditioning. This hotel has none either, but it does provide a big standing fan. The windows have proper blackout curtains. It’s much better than Babette Guldsmeden Copenhagen hotel chain, where the reception was ignorant and unapologetic when they had blood-stained sheets.

We had a great stay, and I’d especially recommend the breakfast. Check in was very easy. It’s a really fun, unique Hotel, with great design and a very clean feel.
