Really great.

Great place.

A huge container ship was being loaded right in front of our balcony for four days. Some guests might find the noise bothersome, but we found it fascinating, and felt that work was part of the harbor atmosphere. The windows are soundproof, too. We stayed five nights in a charming, cozy apartment right by the harbor, with a lovely view and a very central location. Everything from the dishes to the furniture was top-notch. We got the key in person and had a contact person to answer questions. We’ll come back if we’re in Wismar again, and would recommend it to others. Afterward we spent four days in another apartment in the Speicherstadt (warehouse district), in Barth. It was nice, but not nearly as nice as Wismar.

We slept well, thanks to the two small bedrooms with genuinely comfortable beds. Wismar itself is a beautiful city, and the apartment is in a lovely harbor location with plenty of places to eat nearby. But we wouldn’t choose this apartment again. It’s spacious, but not comfortable. The large balcony has only a table and chairs, no loungers, and the living room feels functional and bare, without pictures or anything similar. The big bathroom has a shower, sink, mirror, and vanity, but little storage and no stool. Its towel rails are so low that the towels drag on the floor. The kitchenette has very few dishes, only four teaspoons, no teapot, and no microwave. There were two remotes for the three TVs, and only one worked. Arriving by car was a nightmare. The four short-term spaces for unloading are usually taken, so you have to carry everything a long way. There are no trolleys to help with arrival or departure, and the available parking is quite far away. We’ll definitely return to Wismar, but stay somewhere else.
