The view across the old harbor is beautiful, and Wismar is a historic city well worth visiting. We stayed over New Year’s and were very impressed by the location. The apartment works well enough for two, with furnishings that are okay though not especially high-end. The bed is somewhat worn. We appreciated the small storage room with a vacuum cleaner, cleaning supplies, and extra blankets, and our bike rack fit in there too. Our expensive e-bikes, unfortunately, had to stay in the downstairs hallway. The front door was often open, which didn’t feel secure. The main problem was a strong odor of cigarette smoke and burnt plastic. It came from an emptied garbage bag that was still in use and smelled terrible. The burn marks clearly looked like cigarette holes. There were no spare bags, so we went out right away and bought scented ones, then aired out the apartment thoroughly. Even so, it took three days for the smell to become somewhat tolerable. I called Mr. Barsch from ABC Ferienwohnung about it and found his response rude and presumptuous. He didn’t apologize, just told me to relax and put the trash on the balcony. He also said I was making him grumpy. That’s no way to treat holiday guests.

A lovely holiday apartment in a very central spot, with its own private parking.

There’s no building at this location. Google Maps has placed the property completely in the wrong spot.
