The hotel feels a little dated, but it’s in a great spot. Everyone on the staff was very friendly, and breakfast was fine.

The rooms were clean, though the furnishings could use renovation. It’s an old place, fine for a night or two, but I wouldn’t want to stay longer. The staff were nice, even if a few had quite their own way about them.

We stayed for one night last weekend during our bicycle tour and came away impressed. The rooms are spacious and modernly equipped, and everything was clean and well kept. Breakfast was excellent, with friendly, quick service from the staff.

There’s lots of room in the bedrooms and bathrooms, which makes longer stays comfortable. Mine even had a proper bath, a nice bonus you don’t always find in newer rooms. I also enjoyed the balcony and some lovely views. There’s a pool too, so bring swimwear if you’d like to use it. The hotel hasn’t been modernised, and the lifts are a bit small. The building has all sorts of unusual shapes, though I rather like that the rooms aren’t just boxes.

The food was very good, and the regular restaurant felt cosier than the elegant one. There are two restaurants at the hotel. As cyclists, we got a discount on the room price. Our room was beautiful and very spacious, with a great view over Witten. The staff were all very nice, from check-in through dinner and breakfast. Breakfast is served on the top floor, with a great panoramic view over the city and surrounding area.
