The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg

The building is beautiful, though the 80’s decor could use an update. I wish I could give five stars, but check-in at the front desk was horrible. The agent couldn’t find my reservation even after I showed it in the app, then stared at his screen for about 10 minutes while I waited.

We only stayed one night while heading to Berlin, and I was already tired, so I didn’t get many photos. Still, it was an unforgettable stop. We arrived almost at 12pm and our family’s room was ready. As a Platinum tier benefit, we were upgraded. Thanks for organizing the event, Minjeong. Breakfast was delicious, and the hotel was very well maintained.

The pool is long enough for a proper swim, and it’s heated. There’s a mixed male and female spa area as well as one just for women. The spa staff member was friendly, though I’m sorry I can’t remember her name. We came to Wolfsburg for Autostadt because our boy is into cars. At check-in we were unexpectedly upgraded to a huge signature suite with tasteful decor. Thanks so much, Minjeong, Irina and Nicole! Our son was thrilled by the complimentary chocolates and kids bathrobe. It was considerate, since he doesn’t often get a kids bathrobe at other 5 star hotels. Breakfast was great, with plenty of healthy options like fresh fruit, salmon, and guacamole. You can also order an omelette, pancake, waffle, and more. It’s a lovely hotel with great staff, and we’ll come back on another Autostadt visit.

The rooms were quiet, but dated and short on style. The staff were friendly, though they seemed overwhelmed, and there were long waits everywhere. Room service was the worst part: it took ages, the order was wrong, and the food arrived cold and poor quality. The fries were inedible. 1/10 stars for room service. I’m honestly shocked that anyone likes the view of a fabric. We’d expected more, especially for a special occasion. One person in our group had their day ruined. This didn’t feel like what you’d expect from a Ritz-Carlton.
