Barbarossa

The single room was small but really comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. I was there for a couple of nights on a short business trip, and the little hotel had a cozy, B&B-like feel. It’s right in central Würzburg, but indoors it stays quiet and calm. Great value for the money. I’d stay here again on another visit to Würzburg :)

I’m not sure I’d call this a hotel, it felt more like a hostel. My room was clean, but smelled of old furniture. The soap and shampoo were half used and from DM, so I couldn’t tell if they’d been left by previous guests or supplied by the hotel. The reception staff were friendly, though.

We stayed at Hotel Barbarossa for one night. The room worked fine for three people, and although it had an air conditioner, we didn’t need it because the day wasn’t very hot. The location was very convenient, close to the train station, city center, and main sights. Breakfast was the disappointing part. At 14€/person, it didn’t feel worth the price. They kindly offered coffee or black or green tea, but some of the food had gone sour. There was mold on the spreads, which made us wonder about the rest. The boiled eggs were still runny, including the whites, and the fruit wasn’t fresh. The sliced pineapple, for example, tasted odd. There was also an empty Nutella jar with no replacement, even though we seemed to be the only ones having breakfast. After we complained, we got an apology and a refund for a third of the breakfast cost. We were also asked not to leave a bad review in exchange for the refund, because they’d had these problems before. I understand the person was following the boss’s instructions, but being asked to stay quiet felt outrageous. It’s an okay place to sleep, but I’d eat breakfast somewhere else.

We feel right at home here. Such an amazing experience, recommended.
