City Hotel Würzburg

The room was beautifully renovated, spotlessly clean, and had plenty of hot water and toiletries. There’s a great bakery across the road with seating if you just want coffee and a pastry for breakfast. The hotel is between the old town and the train station, which makes it a great base for sightseeing. There’s no lift, as advertised, and if your room is at the back you’ll need to go up and down and back up some stairs, so keep that in mind.

The owners were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and tidy. Breakfast had good choices and the service was good. It’s near the central station and a good spot for walking around town. I recommend it.

For around 190 Euros a night, I expected more comfort, service and attention to detail. The stay was bearable, but the amenities and service didn’t justify that price. City Hotel Würzburg is convenient for exploring Würzburg, but the shortcomings were hard to overlook. The room didn’t meet expectations: I’d requested a double bed, but got two separate beds in a cramped room, with an inconvenient gap between them. There was no air conditioning, which could make things much less comfortable in warm weather, even if it might be fine in cooler months. The corridors also had a noticeable unpleasant smell, and the hotel could do more to keep the shared areas clean and fresh. It wasn’t a terrible place to stay, just acceptable and underwhelming. At this price, I’d look at other options, since you might find better facilities and more attentive service for the same amount or less.

The room felt a little small, and a bit expensive to us. It was recently renovated, which we appreciated. The staff were nice and kind, though reception isn’t available at night. There’s no parking at the hotel, but a parking lot very close by offers a special rate for guests. It’s a good place for a night, near both the train station and the city center.
