Astor Hotel

I was very disappointed, and I want people to respect others regardless of their color. I don't know whether what happened to me was racism or disrespect. I only had a short stay, so I booked a standard single room because the price was reasonable and the location was very good. The room was clean and tidy, but on the first night I was woken by bedbugs covering the pillow and the bed. I immediately repacked my bags and went to reception. I respectfully asked the man there if I could change rooms. He first said it was impossible. I showed him the video I'd taken and explained what was happening. He said he'd check, and after he did, they gave me another room. I received no apology. A friend visited me twice. Both times, after about 30 minutes, someone knocked on my door and said my visitor had to leave, saying this was the city regulation. I can understand that, but the second time the man stood outside my door and said he wouldn't move until my friend left. I'm sharing what happened to help others avoid being drawn in by the price. It wasn't worth it.

The location is brilliant, right in the city center and close to the train and bus station, though that also means it's very noisy. The rooms are basic, with older furniture, but they were clean and the reception and breakfast staff were very nice. Breakfast was nothing special, just very basic. I'd recommend it only for a short stay, and only a double-bed room, as the single rooms are very small.

It's a decent place right in central Wuppertal, with the central train station nearby and plenty of places to get a quick meal. Breakfast was nice and varied, and the staff were helpful. If you don't speak German, though, you'll have some difficulty communicating.

My booking number is saved, and there was another guest waiting outside at 4 pm trying to get in too. He left at 6 am the next day. I was there, and your hotel sucks. The location dares to accuse me of not being a guest? Check-in starts at 16h, but at 16.23 nobody was there to open the door, let alone check me in. The doorbell got no response. I don't care that it was cheap, it wasn't worth the money. Go anywhere else. 9/6 update.
