The apartments are handy for public transport and places like Wasserkuppe, Schwarzes Moor and Rotes Moor. Our clothes got dirty on a bike trip, and the staff even offered to wash them. The rooms were clean and cozy, with plenty of space. I’m reviewing the rooms, not the food, and for the price the apartments are good.

It has the feel of an old German pub, with a lovely atmosphere. The Bavarian soup was amazing, and the chef is Bavarian and still learning English. The staff are lovely and do their best, even if some don’t speak much English. The menus are in German, but easy enough to follow, and they’re happy to translate. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

The trout fillet I had the following day was perfectly fine. The larger lamb steaks were tasty and high quality, though they came out rare to medium, while I prefer well-done. That’s just my taste, and I could have asked about it beforehand. The landlady has a fairly gruff charm, but it didn’t bother me. This is only a review of the restaurant; I can’t comment on the hotel.
