I had a happy, welcoming short solo getaway here. The hotel is beautiful and the people are friendly. I love trees, but if I could change one thing, I'd remove them so the sea could be seen from the balcony. Still, hearing the sea from the room was lovely. A lovely place to stay.

At Hotel Meerlust, a welcome drink helps you feel at home from the start. It's family owned, and the family and staff are very friendly. The “Father of the house” even comes into the dining room to greet guests and offer friendly tips on what to see and do over breakfast. The decor is modern and nicely done, with a cozy feel. Breakfast is high quality, with fine cutlets, salads, smoked fish, yoghurts, fresh fruit, and a good range of bread. Each morning there's a “today’s paper” on the table with the day's menu, special-priced SPA treats, and events. Guests can choose from a full schedule of activities, including Pilates, morning water gymnastics, and cultural walks during the day. We had half board, with a five-course dinner each evening. It started with tasty buffet salads and cutlets, then soup of the day, a main course, dessert, and very tasty cheeses. There was good variety and everything was delicious and well cooked. You get an assigned table for dinner, which is convenient because you know exactly where you'll sit each evening. They also serve delicious cakes in the afternoon for all kinds of cake lovers. The SPA is lovely, with lots of treatments to choose from. We tried Floating, lying in a large tub for two with water containing 28% salt, compared with 3.5% in the Mediterranean and 29% in the Dead Sea. You float like a cork, and every muscle relaxes for 45 minutes. Recommended! Broadband is poor in the area generally, which also affects the hotel's Wi-Fi. Providers were looking into fixing it by the end of 2019.
