I was invited back by the organizers of the Horizonte Zingst photography festival to lead a business lecture and photography masterclasses during opening week. This time they put me in a luxury apartment instead of a hotel. The building has a real wow factor and is one of the nicer ones in the area, though anyone expecting a sea view from a first row property may be disappointed. The buildings along the front mostly face trees rather than the water, which is simply how Zingst is laid out, not an issue specific to this place. Our two bedroom apartment had beautiful linens and a very well equipped kitchen. The dining setup was a letdown, though. The table was so small that even fitting four chairs was difficult, and having breakfast for two felt like a squeeze. For two bedrooms and $2000 a week, I'd expect four people to be able to sit and eat comfortably. If you're visiting with two kids, meals could be a challenge. We found the apartment spotless, and I loved the tableware and accessories. The huge glass cube sauna and gas fireplace would probably be a hit if you're into saunas, which we aren't. Service needs work at this price. We arrived during regular hours, but there was no one on site to greet us or show us around. It took a couple of calls to get into the building and the garage, which is a bit tricky. For a weeklong stay, one set of towels was less than I'd expected. More are available, but two sets of towels and one set of linens cost an extra $25. Housekeeping also rang and came in 0.5 seconds later, leaving no time to get dressed or any real privacy. Would I stay again? Maybe. With so little room to sit down for a meal or even breakfast, I might choose a hotel next time. This place is a gem for the right people, but there's room to improve the service, so four stars from me. Wherever you're traveling from, be ready for a loooooong journey. Zingst may be Germany's most remote place.
