Hotel Garni Gerisch

Fantastic!

I never even got to stay overnight. There was no confirmation, no email, no call, and I couldn’t get a booking sorted. I first called to ask if there were rooms available. The hotel lady answered, “yes,” so I had to check whether I’d reached the hotel or dialed the wrong number. There were two rooms free, and she told me to send an email. She doesn’t serve breakfast, including on weekends, because she wants the weekend off too. I mentioned that and emailed shortly afterward, but got no confirmation. About four days later, on Saturday, I called again. A lady answered “yes”; I knew I had the right place, but still asked if I’d reached Hotel Gerisch. She said there were rooms available but wouldn’t send confirmation until Monday. Monday evening came and I still had no email, so I wrote again and asked them to finally confirm the booking. By Thursday evening, there was still no email or phone call. Ladies, if you don’t need the money anymore, or don’t understand how business works, please move your rooms somewhere else.

The owner also sells on eBay, where he buys items but doesn’t pay for them. That’s a highly questionable way to do business, and I’d be wary of that attitude carrying over to the hotel. Someone who acts this way isn’t a reputable businessman. Better safe than sorry.

I’m a non-smoker, but had to stay in a smoking room and felt awful the whole next day. The carpet also hadn’t been vacuumed in quite some time. Half a star for the hot water running, and another half because I made it through the night.
