The central heating only gives hot water. The radiators and underfloor heating don’t work, and there are just two electric heaters for the whole building. I found that this had already been mentioned on other platforms in 2023. The property seems poorly maintained, with responsibility pushed onto guests whenever possible. The layers of dust made me wonder whether it had sat empty for a long time, or simply wasn’t being cleaned so the next tenants could be charged too. We booked through Booking.com in September 2025 and arrived to dust, mold, a dirty shower, a stained sheet, and a dirty second refrigerator with dark hairs inside. We reported and photographed these problems right away through the online defect form, and kept proof. We left the place cleaner than we found it, yet the host charged a 584 DKK (~€78.50) cleaning fee and returned only part of my security deposit. The photos they later presented as “proof” mostly showed trivial things like a crumb, dust on a window frame, or a leaf on the floor, or items that were already there at check-in. The claim about dark hairs in the supposedly dirty second fridge seemed particularly absurd. It was in a bedroom and wasn’t even plugged in. We had no dog with us, and none of us has dark hair. Dealing with Dancenter was disheartening. First there were denials, then an insulting offer of 10%, later 15%, of the cleaning fee they’d deducted without a valid basis. My questions were met with delays, and it didn’t seem like the evidence had been properly checked. My impression is that they’re systematically charging cleaning fees after the fact over the smallest excuses. Even if we hadn’t gone into the house, we’d apparently still have owed the fee because it supposedly wasn’t left in the “required condition.” I felt cheated and completely misunderstood. I have all the evidence and am reporting this to Booking.com and PayPal, and I plan to share my experience widely. My advice is to book somewhere else if you don’t want to risk losing money over trivial things after your vacation.
