Comwell Hvide Hus Aalborg, Dolce by Wyndham

Thank you for a wonderful stay at Comwell Hvide Hus. The restaurant food was delicious, and the hotel's location was convenient. My room was comfortable, clean and well appointed, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Aalborg.

The park nearby is lovely, and it’s only a short walk into town. The hotel is fairly central and being renovated. I think it will be a nice, modern place once the work is finished. Our newly decorated room was very clean and had a comfortable bed, though it was quite small. Breakfast had a good choice and was okay, but the coffee wasn't great. Our main issue was the heat. It was only 14 degrees outside at night, yet the room was roasting. We faced the park, but it was still too noisy to leave the door open for air. In warm summer weather it would be pretty unbearable. There seemed to be air conditioning units, and some websites say the hotel has air conditioning, but reception told us there were no rooms with it. The staff didn't seem welcoming when we arrived, though they were nicer and more helpful later. Processes and communication also felt muddled. Rooms aren't cleaned every day, which is fine, but if you want yours cleaned you have to scan the app the night before. That only became clear at the end of the request process. We asked for a late checkout and it was agreed, then someone knocked two hours before that time to ask if we were checking out. At checkout we were asked to pay for the late checkout, which hadn't been mentioned beforehand, and we were also charged for chocolate we hadn't had. It all left us feeling rather out of sorts.

I booked this hotel because I’m one of the few people who admire modernist high-rise buildings from the 1960s and 70s. My small standard room turned out to be the size of a little apartment, with a city view and a beautiful sunrise in the morning. The room was spotlessly clean, the beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly. I also liked seeing the hotel's commitment to sustainability. I’d definitely come back if I’m in Aalborg again.

The view from the windows was stunning, and the lobby was nice. Breakfast was really good quality, and the location beside a nice park worked well. Everything looked perfect, though the hotel could use some renovation and they really need to add a fridge in the rooms.
