Mortens Kro Boutique Hotel

We were six people from three different countries, in town for the danfish expo. We felt the restaurant treated us in a very racist way and deliberately made things difficult for us. After about 30 minutes, we asked to leave, and they seemed happy to let us go. Nobody asked what was wrong or tried to put it right. It was especially surprising since this is also a hotel.

The food was okay, the portions were generous, and prices seemed reasonable. We waited 22 minutes for the food, which was fine, but service was lacking. The welcome felt lukewarm, the waiter took 11 minutes to come by for the first time, and after serving us, didn’t check back or ask how it tasted. It’s not exactly Michelin level. The owners could visit FYR in Oslo for ideas on smørrebrød and good service.

We ordered three pieces of smørrebrød from the menu, and they were full of flavour with a really nice combination of ingredients. I’d recommend it for lunch. We haven’t tried dinner, though we might after this visit. The atmosphere was good, and I liked the wide tables, which felt much nicer than the usual small cafe tables. They helped us get a window table since we had a baby carriage. The owner was nice, though the waiter wasn’t very talkative.

The bathroom mirrors have circular holes, and since they’re inside the toilet stalls, I found them kind of creepy and felt weird using them. I assume there’s some practical reason they were installed that way. Apart from that, the central location is great, especially for people who like fancy restaurants. The food and wine were delicious, and the staff were lovely and professional. 10/10, I’ll go again when I become Richie Rich.
