Parking was limited and expensive, though the hotel is in a good spot by the river in the city centre. The room had no privacy curtains, so it was either completely dark or people walking along the sidewalk could see in. The newly renovated bar was nice, but unfortunately it smelled strongly of the kitchen’s deep fryer. And 13 euros for a 0.33 litre non-alcoholic beer felt like a rip-off.

The location is a bit dull, but after five stays here I’m pretty sure I’ll choose Pier 5 again for my next Aalborg visit. The rooms are spacious and have plenty of amenities, the gym is modern and well maintained, and breakfast is top shelf by Danish hotel standards. The staff are among the kindest I’ve met in Denmark, and there are often good discounts.

Breakfast was very good, and the staff were nice. The room was a comfortable size, though the bathroom shower only had a curtain, no glass door.

Simon and the team working on the evening of December 31, 2025 were especially friendly and helpful. They made us feel hyggelig, and we’re grateful for their Danish hospitality and for spontaneously finding a way for us to have food and drinks on New Year’s Eve. We really enjoyed the chef’s food that evening and the wonderful cocktails from the guys behind the bar. The hotel is beautiful, right by the harbor and very central, with modern, nicely designed rooms. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The hotel staff were friendly, and the room was good. There are nice shared spaces on the ground floor, including the bar and restaurant. I only wish I’d noticed the street fighter 2 arcade machine sooner in my trip.
