I don't know whether there's anything better in Aarhus, since as far as I can tell there aren't any real hostels there. Still, this place didn't feel like a hostel to me. There were no social events or mixers, and hardly a common area. It looks chic, but feels like a separate business with a very corporate vibe. I stayed in an airspace with 72 beds across two levels. It was quiet enough to sleep, and the beds were larger than usual, with curtains, linens, plug-ins, a light, and a locker that locks. The place had hospital-level cleanliness and prison-like aesthetics, though I don't think that was intentional. I think linen and towels cost extra, so check on that. The location is great.

It was very clean and really affordable, but the heat made the bed area almost unlivable during a hot weekend. There were no fans or AC, and the room must have been close to 30 degrees. There was no way to cool down in the middle of the night. I can't stress enough how uncomfortable it is if the outside temperature is above 25. Pick somewhere else in that case.

I needed a room urgently early on a weekend morning and searched for one for May 30th. Since it was after midnight, the Hotels.com app glitched and shifted my selection to June 7th without a clear warning. Once I spotted the mistake, I had to book another room immediately just to get shelter, but Robertas Society staff still refused to check me in. They said they don't allow check-ins after midnight and required me to wait until 15:00 the next day. I ended up paying €100 for TWO reservations that were both completely wasted, because of the app's broken date algorithm and what felt like totally rigid, heartless hotel rules. With nowhere to sleep, I had no choice but to take a 7:00 AM train home. I contacted both parties right away to try to fix the obvious mistake, but they just blamed each other: Hotels.com blamed the hotel, and Robertas Society hid behind "third-party policies." Then the app demanded another €134 (1,000 DKK) just to change the date on the mistaken booking. I'm writing this to warn people about what I see as a toxic mix of Hotels.com's buggy app and the absolute greed of Robertas Society hotel. This is corporate theft and a total lack of basic human understanding. Hotels.com has earned a deleted account, and Robertas Society is a permanent skip for me. Avoid both at all costs.

Read the FAQs before you arrive, it makes the stay a lot easier. The staff were really helpful and friendly, and had plenty of local information. The place is right near shops, restaurants, cafes, and public transport, and prices are fair. Although Roberta's is listed as a hostel, it feels more like a boutique hotel, with a relaxed vibe, plenty of room options, and a great restaurant and cantina. We'd gladly stay again!

You get what you pay for with this cheap hostel. The room was pretty warm in March and overheated during the night. I don't know who thought motion-sensor lights in the bedrooms were a good idea, but whenever someone gets up to use the washroom or leave in the middle of the night, the bright light shines across the room.
