Hotel Årslev Kro

On my return visit, the room was a letdown. There were hardly any outlets, it was cold, and I found a spider in the bed. The walls are thin enough that I could hear everything, including a neighbor snoring, and the room had no direct outside entrance. Parking was full, too. Breakfast hadn't changed: awful coffee, mostly very salty food apart from the boiled eggs, few meat slices, little variety and not many choices. The fruit and good crushed pepper were pluses. My earlier stay was much better. The place was very clean, with nice rooms, a kettle, coffee and tea, and friendly staff who gave good service. Arriving late wasn't a problem for getting a key. The room was warm enough in winter and parking was easy. I'd planned to stay again if I needed to, but after this visit, I'm not happy with the room.

A good stop just outside Arhus and near the highway, so I could carry on without losing time in city traffic. My room was clean and spacious, with some highway noise that didn't bother me. Service was good, breakfast had a very good range of delicious food, and the welcome from the staff was nice.

The rooms are okay, though a bit small and cold. They have the basics: a bed, table, and shower. Breakfast works for me too, since the buffet has eggs and bacon. Staff were friendly and helpful in both the restaurant and reception. The restaurant is the real highlight. The dishes are fairly simple but use high quality ingredients put together really well, and the prices are affordable. Skip the schnitzel, which is terrible. The evening course of the day is excellent and sustainable.

We went back to Årslev Kro after the restaurant manager kindly offered us a dinner on the house, following a meal two months earlier that hadn't met their usual standards. The return dinner was great, and not just because it was free. It was genuinely delicious.
