The large double room had a view of the ocean, and both breakfast and dinner were good. The staff were very friendly, and the hotel is right by the beach and hiking trails. It’s a picturesque beachfront hotel dating from 1895. Allinge Sandvig is a fantastic little city, with good food, homemade ice cream, cozy beautiful architecture, and friendly people. We’ll visit again.

The homemade breakfast was a highlight, and the Rosé Garden had a great range of cocktails. Our family of four felt at home in this cute, family-run hotel. The owners and staff welcomed everyone warmly, and the relaxed vibe meant the kids could move around freely. Just how a vacation should feel.

We had a delicious lunch at Strandhotellet, right on the waterfront. The rye bread with egg and shrimp and the tartare were both tasty and beautifully presented. The kids’ pasta bolo was also a hit, especially the meat sauce packed with vegetables. It’s nice to see so many veggies in a children’s meal. The clean, minimal interior and great service added to the visit.

We had to find somewhere else after our Air BnB turned out to be much less than adequate, and we were lucky to get three connecting rooms for four nights. Casper and Pia are ideal hosts, and their vision gives the place an iconic feel you rarely find even in modern 5-Star Hotels. No TVs, no elevator, no worries. This hidden gem is as unique and special as the island itself, and a reward for anyone seeking one of Europe’s coolest places to stay. Blissfully beautiful and peacefully perfect.
