Copenhagen Go Hotel

For a drive between Germany and Sweden, the location is perfect. There's free guest parking beside the E20, and a train station is a two-minute walk away. Trains to and from the city center run every eight minutes and take about 20 minutes. The staff were friendly and answered questions helpfully. I think we were unlucky with our room, which was on the top floor by the elevator. There were loud people around throughout the night. The queen bed was pushed against one wall and had no cabinets or space on either side for belongings, so it felt cramped for two. Bathroom ventilation seemed to switch on and off on a schedule, leaving the room damp and wet after an evening shower. Amenities were limited: no shampoo, kettle or hair dryer in the room. You can borrow a hair dryer at reception for free if you leave ID as collateral, and buy boiled water or tea cheaply at the kitchenette by the entrance. A standard double room starts at 80 euros, which would have been fine, but our dates cost 120 a night. That felt expensive for what we got.

We stayed three nights in a single room with our dogs. The extra charge was 100DKK per dog, per night. Parking was free, the location was good and the bed was very comfortable. For the price, this is a basic hotel with excellent value. The shower setup was odd, with very poor water pressure that left the whole bathroom wet. We could also hear all the corridor noise from our room.

The staff were super nice, there was plenty of parking, and the train and bus stations are close by. Shops are within an easy drive, and it's handy for the airport if you're flying in. I don't know why you'd stay here without a car if you don't need parking, since you could stay in town. Public transport is right there, though Danish transit is a massive rip-off, with few and poor discounts. Our room wasn't too bad. The linen was OK, the bed was comfortable enough, there were lots of nice windows, and we weren't bothered by the renovations. But the shower head holder was broken, with nowhere to put toiletries or a washbag in the bathroom. The bedroom door had to be slammed to shut and lock. Worst of all, both the shower and sink had the worst water pressure I've encountered in any hotel. The shower screen is tiny and doesn't reach the floor, so water went everywhere. There were no toiletries at all except hand soap. That might be fine in a really cheap place, but this one was mid-range for a budget hotel, not dirt cheap. I wouldn't stay again, to be honest. It's not terrible if you can put up with the water pressure and the sense that it's a bit overpriced. Maybe that's to be expected in Denmark, where everything is overpriced.

The room was a decent size, with plenty of room for suitcases, and the bed was comfortable with OK linens. The lobby was cosy, and the staff were very nice and helpful. Parking seemed sufficient, though I expect it could fill up in busy periods, especially as they're finishing more rooms. The hotel is incredibly basic, even for Scandinavia, with nothing beyond the essentials. There was hand soap by the sink and nothing else in the bathroom, no space to put anything, and terrible water pressure. I saw several other rooms while renovations and extensions were going on, and they were tiny. It's passable for a couple of nights, but book only if you're passing through.
