Airport Hotel Billund

The beds were really comfortable, and for one or two nights this seems like a good choice, especially as it’s among the cheaper hotels around. We skipped breakfast, though it looked nice; I remember it being about 110 DKK, which seemed reasonable. I did lose one of my things while trying to retrieve another from the gap beneath the bunk bed mattress. There’s about 3 cm between the mattress and wall, nothing securing it, and no way to reach underneath except through that narrow opening at the top. I don’t understand why it’s like that.

It’s very convenient for the airport, close enough to walk, and they provide a fan if the room gets too warm. But luggage storage costs 85 DKK, or you can pay 200 DKK for early check-in. What a rip-off. They don’t even have a kettle or proper mugs to drink water from.

Nearly 200 euros for a random date with breakfast, and the food felt third-rate. The room did too: not clean enough, the toilet paper smelled, and the bed was far too hard. First-class prices for a third-class room. It’s also a long walk from the rental cars, almost 20 minutes with all your luggage. You can’t park in front of the hotel at the moment because of work going on. I remember that area previously allowing only 20-30 minutes, so you had to hurry to avoid a ticket.

The location is brilliant, and the outside terrace was great, with a box of toys and games. Inside, there’s a Starbucks by reception, plus Lego bricks for kids in the lobby. The staff were nice and gave me the airport-view room I asked for so I could take plane photos. I’m an aviation enthusiast, so I really appreciated that. Breakfast was excellent, with tasty pastries and interesting tea choices. The egg boiler didn’t work well for me, though, even after eight minutes, and one toaster for everyone isn’t a great setup. The room was nice, but the shower let water onto the floor, and there was no AC. With all the airport noise, sleeping with the window open wasn’t an option. Everything else was fine. I had a great stay and really hope to come back. 100% recommend!
