Thorupgaard Farm Holiday

A lovely place to stay.

The animals were a big part of why we planned a farm holiday with our 1.5-year-old, who loves being around them. But there were only four pigs, some rabbits, and a farm dog that the children could spend time with. The cattle were far out in the fields. When we arrived late in the afternoon, we were shown the apartment we had booked and the stables. After that, we barely had any contact with the owners. Their family was visiting, and we felt extremely intrusive. Both the apartment and the stables were dirty. The apartment had only been cleaned superficially, with dirt and dead flies everywhere. The stables were dirty and uncharming too, below what I'd expect from a place offering a children's farm holiday. We had picked Thorupgaard because another place wasn't available, and the stay turned out to be a sad experience. We were also asked to pay 100kr more for the night than the website price, with no explanation. The night costs far too much for what you get, and I wouldn't recommend Thorupgaard for a children's farm holiday.

We spent a wonderful weekend at Thorupgaard in the Glamping Tent. The tent and wilderness pool sit by fields with cows and ponies, and the setting felt cozy and relaxing. The hosts were super nice and helpful. Breakfast was good, with eggs, scrambled eggs, cheese, and buns, and we got to choose when it was served. We also ordered snobrød dough and pancakes to cook over the campfire, which was super cozy. We'd happily have another holiday at Thorupgaard.

We felt so welcome at Thorupgaard, even though we were only there to pick up food. It was our first time ordering a meal, and it was delicious, we were really impressed 😍 Our daughter loved seeing the pigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, and cows, and she enjoyed the playground too. Amazing people, animals, food, and hospitality. We'll definitely be back 👏🏻
