Bertrams Guldsmeden

The breakfast was a highlight, with wholesome, natural food. We stayed in an upgraded suite for my wife’s birthday, and the room was beautiful, especially the bathroom products. The welcome was good-humoured and made the stay feel relaxing from the start. The hotel is in a lovely neighbourhood, with friendly bars and restaurants an easy walk away in every direction.

The bathroom design was the one frustration. It felt like style had taken priority over usefulness: the tub was far too small to work well as either a bath or a shower, and there was hardly any shelf space. A proper shower would have fit in the available space. Apart from that, our two-day stay was good. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location worked well for the excellent restaurants in the meat packing area.

The internet kept cutting in and out, which was the main downside. Otherwise, I had a lovely stay. The staff were great and happy to help, including with tips about the city. I liked the hotel’s focus on sustainability and wellbeing, from the breakfast signs about avoiding food waste to the free fruit. The room toiletries were good quality and smelled nice, and they also provided toothbrushes and toothpaste. The location was handy, about a 15-minute walk from the central station and close to the Zoo. The parks next to the Zoo were lovely for a walk.

The little shell bouquets tied to the four-poster bed were a curious touch, but they gave it a nautical Danish feel. I also really enjoyed relaxing in the freestanding bathtub with feet. The rooms were comfortable, breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly. The hotel is in a very convenient spot, and I appreciated the eco-friendly details too. I’m still not sure about those chewable toothpaste things, though. Cheers.
