Scandic Olympic

I was in town on a work trip, and the Scandic in Esbjerg was a comfortable place to come back to. My room was tidy, the bed was comfortable, and the workspace made it easy to get things done. The hotel has a clean, modern feel. Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of fresh, tasty choices, from Danish items to more familiar options. The staff were helpful and friendly, ready to answer questions or suggest things in the area. The central location made it easy to explore on foot after work. A solid option for either business or leisure, and I’d stay again and recommend it.

The views can be amazing if you get the right room. But the air conditioning doesn’t work, the vinyl floors are blistering, and the general quality feels behind. One power outlet actually fell off. Dangerous!

For what it costs, this wasn’t a good deal. My room wasn’t clean, the floors were dirty, and nobody cleaned it or changed the towels during the three days. The heating didn’t work either. The bathroom was tiny, with a very small sink and mirror.

A week ahead of time, I made several requests to cancel and get my money back because circumstances outside my control meant I couldn’t use my booking at Scandic Olympic Hotel. The manager refused. Update: I eventually got to enjoy part of my stay, so I’m updating my opinion.
