Scandic Falkoner

The location was handy, with a metro, cafes, Asian restaurants, a mall and even a Malaysian vegetarian restaurant all within walking distance. The reception area had a pleasant vibe too. The room experience was a letdown, though. We were told around noon that our room was ready, but early check-in would cost an extra 200 DK under hotel policy. We skipped that and went sightseeing. When we came back around 6 PM, the room still wasn’t ready. We waited by the door while staff hurried to finish making the bed. The room felt small for three, dusty, and had a sticky floor, probably from a coffee stain. Since we were waiting outside, it seemed like the cleaning had been rushed, with mopping and wiping left undone. Amenities were very basic, with no toiletries or room sandals. Compared with our previous stays at similar Scandic hotels, it wasn’t what we expected from a well-known chain and felt more like a low-budget hotel such as ibis. The mattress was only 3 inches thick and uncomfortable. The room not being ready and the cleanliness issues really affected our stay.

I was concerned about health and safety given the dirt and hygiene problems, and I’d advise potential guests to reconsider staying here. I stayed at Scandic Falkoner Hotel, and cleanliness was poor throughout the property. The bathroom was visibly dirty, with heavy limescale and mould that looked long-standing. The sink and shower were both blocked, leaving standing water. This felt like ongoing neglect rather than a one-off oversight. The room was just as concerning: the carpet was heavily stained and deeply dirty, as though it hadn’t been properly cleaned for a long time. The overall hygiene and upkeep seemed unacceptable for a hotel in this category. I was offered another room, but it had the same basic problems. Cleanliness and maintenance seemed lacking across the hotel, including in public areas. It’s hard to understand how these issues haven’t been addressed.

Frederiksberg is one of my favorite areas of Copenhagen, and the hotel is in a perfect spot near a metro station. Breakfast was very good, the rooms were clean and a bit small but still nice, and there’s a nice reception area with a cafe-restaurant inside. Recommended.

We stayed three nights and were happy with the stay. It’s easy to get around from this very convenient spot beside a major metro stop, including to and from the airport on the M2 line. The beds were comfortable, and our rooms had sofa beds that could sleep one person. The 4 PM check-in felt a little late, though we did manage to get in a bit early. We liked our stay and would come back.
