Gentofte Hotel

After a long journey we arrived in a bad mood, but the receptionist who greeted us was so accommodating that it quickly turned around. We had several requests and he handled all of them with a smile. At checkout, another receptionist wrote us a long note for a sister hotel, so we could leave our bags there after checkout before heading home. We were staying in Denmark and didn’t plan to return to gentofte. I can’t ask for more from the experience. The people complaining about reception in the reviews must have met different staff from the ones we did.

I made a mistake with the dates and told the hotel four weeks before our August arrival. They still refused to give even a partial refund. I don’t believe they couldn’t have rebooked the room in mid-August, and they might do that anyway and make double the money. Useless.

The bathroom was a problem: the shower gel was empty, and a clogged drain flooded the whole room. The room itself was clean and quiet, and breakfast was good. I stayed two nights on a business trip. The hotel is quite close to the train station and town centre, with restaurants and shops nearby. Reception is staffed around the clock, and there’s a reasonably equipped gym.

The location is handy for public transport, including bus and metro, and for the office I needed to visit. The room was small and outdated. Breakfast was okay, but don’t expect much. At these rates, the hotel needs a major renovation to compare with others in Copenhagen.
