We arrived late on the night of August 22nd 2025, and an accommodation should be up to a reasonable standard without guests having to call for maintenance during a holiday. I’ve added timestamped photos because I don’t seem to be believed. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I liked the idea of staying in a historic building in a small, nice town, and I do like old charm. But this place felt extremely worn down, dirty and bad-smelling. We were disappointed to find our room down the street in another building instead of in the actual hotel. The room smelled of sewer. There were questionable stains on the couch, spiders and cobwebs, a broken towel bar and holes in the ceiling. Even the shampoo and conditioner were mislabeled. We chose not to have breakfast and left as soon as we could. The booking brought a flood of texts and emails with information and codes, which was overwhelming; we struggled to find both the room and parking. No one was at reception, and when we needed help at night, calling a foreign number as tourists was difficult. I understand they may not want to pay for someone to staff reception, but the fully digital process felt impersonal and cold, like an Airbnb. The hotel's time would be better spent updating and cleaning the place, and taking ownership of what can be improved, instead of fighting back against reviews. As it was, the stay felt impersonal, unclean and unpleasant.

The breakfast buffet was a real highlight, and the location worked perfectly for us, with off-street parking on a walking street. We stopped here to rest after a long drive from Southern Germany, before taking the ferry over to Fyn Island. The room was comfortable, though it showed its age. Staff handled one area the cleaning person had missed professionally.
We chose this place for a friend's wedding, which is held right in the building, so staying here is very convenient for that. It's centrally located, with a supermarket, bakery, pizza places and barber shops nearby. There's also a pub open late. It's an old-school smokers' club with distinctive locals, serving only beer and shots. Nothing special, but it has a cozy, honest feel and is fine for a drink or two. The hotel is quite run down. The room was okay, nothing special, and the sheets didn't seem fresh. The curtains didn't work properly, and the thin walls let through every sound from the neighbors. Check-in starts after 3 pm, and there's nowhere to lock your luggage. We didn't see anyone at reception, though the room code worked for both the room and front door. Breakfast was okay, with a basic selection. It's suitable for a night or two if you don't expect much, but I think it's only a 3 star hotel, so the price isn't justified.
I strongly advise against booking this hotel. The rooms were unhygienic, smelled bad, and seemed to have mold. Service was nonexistent and breakfast was below par. Several website photos don't match what we found. The building and rooms are old and worn, and there was no café, activity or life outside the building or in the square shown in the pictures. The furniture was cheap and poor quality. Damp was a strong smell in the rooms, pillows and several duvets. We couldn't use any of the pillows. Several rooms seemed to have mold or mildew around the window frames. No service staff were available. We arrived Friday afternoon and couldn't get help by phone after 4 p.m. Everything relied on SMS and codes: room access with "676664#" (later "#6766#"), main building access with "6766", and the main building toilet with "4444#". Breakfast was very limited and made up of the cheapest foods. One employee was handling setup, cleanup, dishes and everything else. I appreciate that the hotel responded to feedback about breakfast and the smell. But we paid DKK 5,400 for two nights, and the breakfast had absolutely no value. The alternative was DKK 5,500 for two rooms in the main building. We chose the apartment so the parents wouldn't have to be split into separate rooms, not to save DKK 100 over two nights. I tried calling Friday afternoon, but the lack of service made it impossible to reach anyone. The website pictures of breakfast, the hotel front and the apartment building do NOT reflect reality. Fix the business or turn it into a real discount hotel.
The staff were very welcoming, and the place was really nice and clean!
