In Rimsø, 7 km north of Grenaa on Djursland, a few people bought a newly opened old nursing home from the community and turned it into a bed and breakfast. There's also a gift shop with local crafts and other things.

A perfect venue for a big birthday or a wedding.

Cozy and nice.

We were relieved it was only one night. We arrived at 9 pm with my fiancée and our 10-year-old daughter. The facilities didn't seem suited to a girl her age, since the playroom looked more appropriate for kids three and under. We drove out for food and returned at 10:40 pm, only to find the bed linen missing, despite the booking.com listing saying the beds would be made. They weren't. We tried to make the evening fun for our daughter on her 10th birthday and later wanted to watch Netflix, but couldn't find the Wi-Fi code. We got no reply when we tried to contact anyone, so we walked through the old, creepy nursing home corridors to look for it. It took two hours, and our daughter was terrified. By the time we got back to our room, she was crying. The room was fucking cold when we tried to go to bed, so we set the temperature to 10 degrees. We called Rimsøhuset at least ten times, with no answer. Then we went back into the unsettling hallways to look for staff, found a number for the person responsible for the heating, and called both that number and Rimsøhuset again. No one answered. I left another message saying we'd leave without paying if they didn't fix it, but still heard nothing. When we left and explained the problem, they said they had never experienced it before. It was not worth the 400 kr we agreed to pay, let alone the 800 kr we were supposed to pay. Breakfast was included, but we were charged extra for it too. Expect a report to the Consumer Complaints Board and a police report.

The place is dirty and dusty, with dead insects on the windowsill, other people's hair in the bathroom corners, and spiders on the ceiling. My husband removed some of them. I found the whole place run-down and think it needs fixing up before being rented as a BNB. Sorry, but we won't be back. It wasn't worth 700kr, and we were glad to stay just one night. We tried calling twice on Aug 7 and left two messages asking for a call back, but nobody got back to us. By then we were home, but it's a problem not being able to reach anyone while staying there. We skipped breakfast when we saw it in the kitchen. One packet of cornflakes was open, and its inner bag wasn't closed. Djurs describes it as a breakfast buffet, but it was a pretty ordinary everyday breakfast. There was no way to get coffee or tea either, though other places with a tea kitchen usually offer that. They should say that guests need to bring their own. The electric kettle was badly scaled, with big flakes, and had black scum inside. I tried washing off as much as I could. We also had to search for bedding and towels ourselves. My first call was because we hadn't been given bedding, only sheets. There were four sheets in each bag on the bed, eight altogether, though the bag on the extra bed had enough.
