The room was dirty when I checked in and didn’t look like it had been properly cleaned after the previous guests. I’d tried several times to get information from A Hotel Roskilde before arriving, but never got a reply. I asked the hotel staff and Hotels.com for help. They said there wasn’t a similar room available and wouldn’t give me a refund. They offered neither another room nor compensation, which was very unsatisfactory. I can’t recommend A Hotel Roskilde or Hotels.com after this stay. The service and handling of the problem were unacceptable. I had booked July 11-13, 2025.

The staff were nice and understanding, but nothing was done about the problems. There was a rotten smell in the room from the start, and the freezer looked black and disgusting, as if there might be mold inside. It had a strange stench too. The room also went three days without cleaning, fresh towels, or new bedsheets.

Breakfast was very poor, with no real options, and only takeout was available. We also had no room service for three nights and weren’t given fresh towels. There was just one small, single-use bottle of hand wash and shampoo.

Check-in and check-out were easy using the self-service kiosk. The room itself was clean and looked modern, new, and quite nice, though a few things were still unfinished: there was no refrigerator or minibar, the bedside lamps had no bulbs and couldn’t be used, and the shower vent cover was missing. We didn’t see or hear any construction workers, even though some work was still going on. I’d read the reviews from the previous few months only after booking through Booking.com, when I could no longer cancel, and they’d left me worried. My booking included breakfast, but the buffet was closed during my stay from December 22, 2025 to January 5, 2026. I still had to pay the full price.
